Capistrano Beach and Cristol

The Uphams came to visit! We have missed them since they moved. Monday night we drove to Café Rio for a girls' night and it was delicious!
The next day we went to Capistrano Beach to hang out. The weather was perfect! Soon after we got there however the lifeguard came by to tell us that a great white shark had been spotted just 100 years offshore from directly where we were sitting. No swimming for us :<( The kids still had fun playing however.
And us mamas had fun hanging out as well!

The kids spent a good portion of the day like this. They were having fun, and at one point another kid came over who was a little older. He was chatting it up with the kids, and something felt a little off. Sonja was asking him some questions, turns out he was 13 and visiting his grandparents for the summer from Iowa. I wasn't paying THAT close of attention to him, but all of a sudden Sonja ran over to his side and asked if he was taking pictures of one of the girls. He was denying it but she got his phone and found several pictures he had taken of a very inappropriate area of an 11 year old girl in our group. At that point the mama bear came out, and she  held onto his phone while telling him to get his grandfather and come back. He didn't want to but eventually he left. At that point she called the cops. It took awhile for them to get there, and when the boy's grandpa got there I think he thought she was completely overreacting, but they sat down to wait. The kid was totally lying and saying that he "accidentally" took the pictures, his camera doesn't even work so he didn't realize he did it. Baloney! When the cops came, they showed his grandparents the pictures. At that point they realized it was more serious than they thought. The cops did a great job of basically scaring the crap out of the kid, they had him sitting in the back of their car and had a nice long talk with him about the seriousness of this situation. Eventually they let him go, and all we can do is hope that he doesn't do anything like this again. Not sure if he just thought it was a funny joke or if there is something more serious going on with him, it's sad because he's just a kid himself :<(
Once all that craziness cleared up, we had another enjoyable hour til we headed home. Someone wanted to take a shadow picture, someone suggested we spell the word "love." Cristol rolled her eyes and said, "LAME" so we spelled that instead. Love it :>)

Lake Havasu

We were so excited to go to Lake Havasu this year! It's been an annual thing, but last year we couldn't go due to Rich being out of town for training and we were all so sad! It was a quick trip but we made the most of it. We were driving to a place that is crazy hot, but my kids are all bundled up like we're going to the Arctic :>)
One of the first things we did was head to Copper Canyon to go cliff jumping. My kids (except Sabrina!) love it.

Brendan moved up to the middle rock this year. Not going to lie, it was completely freaking me out. It was really windy, and I didn't feel like he was jumping out far enough, but fortunately he didn't die. He started to climb up to the very top one and I put my foot down for that though. Not sure when I became the paranoid overprotective mom? That is HIGH though!!!
They had a lot of fun on the boat with their friends.
I think tubing is their favorite thing to do on the boat!

Even the moms got out for a ride. Sean tried to throw us but we hang on. Barely :>)
I think this might be my favorite picture of the weekend!
The next day we found a nice little beach and hung out there for awhile.

These are some great women!!!
Always nice to spend some time with my hubby. Wish his neck felt better so he could do more!
We made our way up to the London Bridge to get snow cones. Our usual stand was gone, which was sad!!! We tried another place which SAID "shaved ice" but was really just chunky snow cones. Then we found another hole in the wall which was better but still not as good as the original. The kids didn't seem to mind though!
We love the Nielsens! We left the end of the second day, but apparently Mike broke his foot jumping out of the boat the third day. Such a bummer :<( It was a great weekend aside from that though!

The girls have been taking a jazz class with some friends from church. There are 5 of them, and they make up half the class. They are pretty adorable! Hayden came over to get ready with them the day they had dance pictures, and we took our own since we didn't want o pay the outrageous prices they were charging!!!
Afterwards we went to the park with Ava as well. Aubrey wasn't able to come, and we missed having her! These girls were cracking me up. They had STRONG opinions on how they wanted to pose, and nobody was changing their minds lol.

Cute girls! Then came recital night, and they did great. I was hoping to get a picture of the 5 of them together, but somehow that didn't work out!
Afterwards we went to Yogurtland. This made the night slightly more bearable for my boys who feel like attending a dance recital is one step up from death :>)

We went to the annual district day at LEGOLAND, my kids love that place so much!

We stopped by the Lego Friend area. The girls thought it was awesome, but the boys did not lol.

The cars are always a hit!

We had to leave by 2:30 because the girls had their dress rehearsal for their recital, but it was still a good day. We didn't go to their STEAM classes due to time constraints (which was a bummer), but we were able to go on a good amount of rides. I feel like there's not a WHOLE lot of years left where these rides will be fun for my kids, but I will enjoy them being little while it lasts!

Andrew's baptism

Today was a busy day! We cleaned the building at church this morning, then Rich took the boys to tae kwon do while the girls and I stayed for Elaine's baptism. After that we drove to Valencia for Andrew's baptism! It was beautiful.

Afterwards we went to the park to eat and hang out. It was Aunt Kathy's birthday as well!

Love having a reason to get everyone together :>)

5th Grade Promotion

Brendan has completed elementary school and will start middle school in the fall. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN??? They had a nice ceremony at the school.
He got a bunch of awards! But not all of them lol. I went with him on his field trip a couple weeks ago. His teacher pulled me aside and said, "We give out a Student of the Year award in 5th grade, I just wanted to let you know that Brendan isn't getting it." I didn't know quite what to say to that! He went on to say that he was CLOSE, it mainly came down to quality of work (and I'm the first to admit that his handwriting is atrocious). I guess it's nice to know that he was close? Kind of a weird conversation though!

Brendan and Hunter went through all of elementary school without ever being in the same class. They are still good friends though! With them both being in the GEMS program next year, hopefully that will change.

He really loved Mr. Bedley!
