Kinder Promotion

The girls had their kindergarten promotion! And I missed it :<( I was so sad I couldn't get off work, but Rich and Mom and Bob were able to come so they had a good cheering section :>)

 They will miss Mrs. Lane!
Afterwards they went to lunch and Rich got them hula hoops. Hello summer :>)

Memorial Day

On Memorial Day, we went to the ceremony at the cemetery. It really does bring tears to my eyes every time! Wish I would have taken more pictures.
Afterwards, we went swimming at the Seo's house. Love our neighbors :>)

Soccer Game and the Drive In

Kyle had a soccer tournament in Riverside, so the kids and I drove down to watch him play. They did great!
Afterwards we went down the road to the drive in the see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. The kids had a blast with their cousins!
We walked next door to get some dinner, love watching these girls together :>)
These kids make me laugh! Afterwards they came to spend the night, by the time we got home it was pretty late so bedtime wasn't TOO crazy. These kids were worn out!

Sprint triathlon

A week before the Canyon Lake sprint triathlon, my friend asked me if I wanted to do it. I was hesitant, mainly because I hadn't been on my bike in over 6 months, but about 12 hours before the event I decided I would do it. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to do it by then. I saw on Facebook that my friend Heidi was doing it, so I had some backup! It would have been nice if Rich could do it, but his neck is still bothering him :<( There was actually a decent turnout, and by 7 we were starting!

I ended up doing ok. Definitely not my fastest time (mainly due to a pretty slow bike split, man my legs are weak now!) but it felt good and I had fun!

Mother's Day

I love Mother's Day! It is the one day a year where no one expects anything from me, and it is lovely :>) I slept in, then enjoyed some cute cards and gifts from my kids. And a poppyseed muffin in bed :>) It was nice to have no meetings and just relax before church!

I couldn't relax TOO much though because I had to speak :<( My talk went ok though I think and THEN I could enjoy the rest of the day! We snuck out of church a bit early to go to Frank's house and skype with Wyatt. He is doing great and will be home in just a couple more months!!!
It was a fun day with family. These cousins especially sure love each other :>)

Bob retired! Someone gave him some Angels tickets as a gift, so they took Rich and the boys to the game along with Ty and Nicole.

They had a great night!

Father Son Campout and Girls' Night

After school the boys drove up to Hurkey Creek for the Father Son campout. They had a great time!

The girls have been counting down the days til they left so that we could do our annual pedicures/girls' night. We went with Jaime and Aubrey and got our toes all pretty!

Afterwards we went to Vero's (YUM). Such a great night with these little ladies!

We have a lot of stuff coming up this summer, and haven't planned any camping trips. Jaime and I decided kind of spur of the moment that we should do a local trip just for the night. It was kind of nice because we picked up dinner on the way and brought muffins for breakfast, so not planning food cut down on the prep work considerably! Once we got situated in our campsite, we took the kids over to Ortega Falls. We tried to go there after Christmas and it was pretty dry, but after all the rain this winter it was a fun little waterfall! The kids had fun playing in the water and climbing on the rocks.

Back at the campsite we made s'mores and ate junk food and had a great time with our families. Brendan and Hunter set up their own tent for scout requirements and made our fire! The people who set up next to us had one guy who was SUPER LOUD. Everyone else's conversation was just quiet murmuring, but you could hear every word this guy said really clearly.
We went to bed around 11, and were all woken up around midnight by this really loud man with his really loud laughter! Then around 2 it started to rain. And our tent leaked. All night long it was drip, drip, drip on my forehead. We got up fairly early, and packed up because all our chairs and everything was wet. Kind of a bummer, but we still had a good time! And not sure how but even though all the wood was wet the boys somehow got a fire going in the morning.
We got home and started washing laundry (and kids!), we also set up our tent outside so we could dry it out. Camping is so much work, but it really is a lot of fun. Even when we get rained on :>) We met up later that day with friends to see the Vocanas when they were in town. I hadn't had a chance to take my OWN shower yet, so I reeked of campfire but it is always good to see them!

We were all inside one afternoon when our neighbor knocked on the door to inform us that there was a large snake in our driveway. By the time we got out there it had slithered under a bush. I HATE SNAKES!!!! We could kind of see it, and we were out there with several neighbors trying to figure out what kind of snake it was and whether it was poisonous or not. Rich went inside to call animal control, we were pretty sure it wasn't a rattlesnake and they said they only come out for rattlesnakes. So NOW what were we supposed to do? By Rich's description they said it might be a ball python. While he was on the phone I saw it slither out from under the bush, against the house and under the back fence. Yikes!!! I was too creeped out to go through the gate so I ran through the house to the backyard. And didn't see it!!! We have the dog crate and lawnmower and a few other places for creepy snakes to hide over by the fence, and I was freaking out that there was a large snake roaming somewhere in my yard. We didn't know what to do! Then we heard a voice over the fence saying, "Is that snake in your backyard?" Our neighbor's dad was visiting and he likes snakes, he came through the gate and poked around til he found it. Then he just picked up that snake like it was nothing and not this creepy huge reptile! My kids were all super wary of touching it. I wouldn't go near it. Thinking about it still gives me the heebie jeebies!!! He then drove it off to a field somewhere. We are super grateful for nice strangers who are willing to help! Not sure what we would have done if he hadn't been nearby.
