We are hoping for a great year!!!

Havasu

The Nielsens were supposed to go to Yosemite with us this year, but something came up and they weren't able to go. I was bummed because they live TOO FAR AWAY and we were looking forward to seeing them. When they suggested a lake trip we jumped on it right away! We were all very happy to see them! And my kids especially were thrilled to be on the boat. The Harns and Andersons came up for a couple days with us too which was super fun.
Tubing is always the highlight of the trip! It was great until the last day when the cover ripped while the moms were all on there. Not our fault but the kids all thought we broke it. The Harns' tube had a hole straight out of the box, and the Nielsen's second tube went flat at the end of the trip. At least it waited until the last day!
It is HOT in Arizona and so of course we had to cool off with shave ice!
 These kids were WORN OUT.

 We have fun friends!
Last year when we went Layla was just a few months old. Now she is talking and into everything, amazing the difference a year makes!

The kids also had a good time jumping off the cliffs (all except Sabrina that is!). Whitney wanted to go off the middle one (probably 15-20 feet high) and insisted on holding my hand. I think I jumped just a split second before her which pulled her in sideways, she cried pretty good but was soon ready to go again. Then we found a kid sized rock to jump off and she was much better :>)
It was a great weekend! We all came home tired and sunburned, and with some great memories. A great way to close out the summer.

Primary Drive-In

We did a primary drive-in activity before school started and it was fun. It's been a few years since we did one of these so it was the girls' first time getting to make a car. The paint I bought was not very good but they still had a good time making it! Carson spent a ridiculous amount of time making a key out of paper and cutting a hole in his box so he could put it in. As well as a driver's license "that just says a little bit about me." HA!!! Some other people's cars were pretty impressive though. We watched An American Tale (it has been a LONG time since I watched that movie) and the kids all had plenty of popcorn and candy. Yum!

Love these crazy munchkins of mine!

Time with Ashley

Ashley came home with us for a few days after camping, not sure how we managed to fit her in our car but she was a good sport about it!
We had fun hanging out with her, teenage girls are FUNNY and she made me laugh all the time. We took her to Dairy Queen for the first time (my kids were being BRATS but I still enjoyed my blizzard!)
we took her bowling

the twins especially adore her and they were usually following her around ALL THE TIME. I didn't take many pictures, my favorite part was when she made this goofy music video with the kids. We were glad to have her over!!!

Yosemite Day 4

On Saturday we woke up and started breaking down camp. That is always a sad time, the fun is over and all the WORK of getting everything back together begins! Everything was wet from the rain which made it even better :>) The kids spent the whole morning playing in "rock kingdom," the name they designated for the big rocks near our campground. They had so much fun over there the whole trip, love to see them unplugged from electronics and using their imaginations!

Had a great time with some good friends, after 4 days in the wilderness we were very dirty and smelly!!!

We didn't get to go to the Sequoia grove in Yosemite because it is closed for restoration, we were going to hit up Nelder grove on our way out because I read it was 20 minutes south of the park, BUT when we stopped to ask for directions we realized it was going to be 45 minutes (each way) out of our way. I wanted to get back in time to go to the open house for the Wagstaffs (who are moving to Utah) so we cut that out :<( Next time! We were able to meet up with my Dad for lunch though, always good to see him! Lisa came too but had surgery the day before and wasn't feeling very well, still a good visit.
We picked up my niece Ashley from Frank's on the way home and she will get to stay with us for a few days, love that girl!
