Yosemite Day 3

Memorable moment from the night time...Sabrina had to go to the bath room in the middle of the night, I told her we were going to go right outside of the tent instead of walking to the bathroom (I was a little nervous about meeting a bear, and it was COLD!). I walked a few feet from the tent and turned around, I just saw a little white bootie sticking out of the tent. She peed then went right back to bed, easy peasy :>)
The kids had lots of fun in the Costello's hammock!
After breakfast we drove up to Glacier Point, I don't think I have ever been up there and it was gorgeous! The lower waterfall is Verbal Falls that we hiked to the day before, it looks a lot smaller from a distance.

We did the VERY SHORT hike to the top, my kids enjoyed that much more!

Afterwards we went back to Yosemite Valley and went on a bike ride with the McDowells and Andersons.
Sabrina was the only one with training wheels, she pumped those little legs as hard as she could but we were quite a bit behind. Fun to spend some one on one time with my little girl!

After awhile we hid her bike behind a tree and she hopped in the trailer with Crew, we went a lot faster that way!
Not much water left in Yosemite Falls, but still pretty amazing!

we saw more deer in the parking lot.
Of course after biking we needed to get more ice cream :>) While eating, it started to rain and thunder quite a bit so we headed back to camp. Clearly this kid was worn out!
Our campsite was at 7,000 feet, and I think it rained pretty hard because there were huge puddles EVERYWHERE!
as well as quite a bit of hail. Our tent flaps were open so most of the sleeping bags/pillows were pretty wet, we spent most of the evening drying them off by the fire!

you cant see the double rainbow very well in the picture but it sure was pretty!

This was our night to do dinner, we planned on a dutch oven dessert but didn't think about the bottom coals burning out because of the rain. After an hour it still wasn't done and that's when we realized there was no heat on the bottom! We stuck the dutch oven in the campfire which finished cooking it super fast, got a touch overdone but still good.

Yosemite Day 2

Thursday morning I was amazed when my kids slept until 8. When did we become the family that sleeps in??? It had been kind of a long night though, I think Whitney was up from around 1-3 which was LOADS of fun :>) No one had any real plans, so we all headed down to Yosemite Valley. We stopped off to see the Tunnel View which was really pretty!
Whitney was mad about something, there's always one :>)
Love these girls, camping is always more fun with friends!
The scenery in Yosemite is just breath taking! Pictures can't even do it justice.
One of the things I really wanted to do was hike the Mist Trail I had come DOWN it before when we hiked Half Dome, and I was so tired by then that I couldn't appreciate it too much! My kids really wanted to see waterfalls too, so up we went. The Andersons, Nays, and McDowells joined us as well. It was only a 3 mile hike, but I forgot how STEEP it is!!! It felt MUCH MUCH longer! There was plenty of whining and complaining from the kids on the way up, but once we got to Vernal Falls it was so pretty!!!
The trail was not nearly as misty as last time we were there, but we hiked closer to the falls and got to enjoy a little cool down from the mist. Afterwards I realized my camera lens was completely covered in water so the pictures were all a little blurry, oh well!

After checking out the falls we decided to go all the way to the top. That was probably a mistake, it was pretty steep and added close to an hour to the hike. I think we passed our kids' limit, which made the way back LOADS of fun :>) It was pretty from the top though!

on the way down...BEAUTIFUL!!!
Sabrina was a little slower so we got to enjoy the scenery more :>)
the main reason she was slower is cause she kept falling/tripping and had to cry for awhile. Usually the thought of taking a picture cheered her right up lol.
They probably would have done better if they had shoes that fit, they hadn't worn their shoes in awhile and I didn't realize til we got up there that they were probably 1/2 size too small. Not my finest mom moment :<(
 Love this family of mine!
It definitely wasn't my kids' favorite part of the trip but I loved it! All these kids made it up (plus Grayson who is 1 1/2 and was carried the whole way, nice for him but not so nice for his dad!)
Afterwards we stopped in Curry Village for some MUCH DESERVED ice cream! Funny story while we were there, some of the kids had to use the bathroom and all 3 stalls were filled by Sabrina, Crew, and McKynlee. All of them had some business to take care of and took their sweet time. There was a lady waiting who was SO ANNOYED but there was nothing we could do to speed them up. Then they all started singing "Who let the dogs out." I was trying and not succeeding to not laugh :>)
Afterwards we went by the Merced river to swim a bit. That water is COLD!!!
 but SO PRETTY there!!!
We got to the campsite and had a nice dinner (poor Niki spent so much time making homemade garlic bread and it all got waterlogged in her cooler), we had a couple deer just pass through our campground.
the kids performed some skits for us and it was a good night!

Yosemite Day 1

I have been wanting to go back to Yosemite for a long time, and this year I was able to get a reservation! Woo hoo! I kind of wish the time we went wasn't the lowest snowpack they had in hundreds of years, I knew the waterfalls wouldn't be super impressive but we were still excited to go.  We left around 8:30 in the morning and had a pretty uneventful drive up. Always amazes me how much stuff we can cram into our car!

When we got to the park we made a stop in Wawona to do a short hike to the swinging bridge. It was really pretty there, I wish we had our swimsuits and more time to spend there because my kids would have been very happy to spend several hours there!

they had a great time looking for fish :>)

Afterwards we drove up to our campsite at Bridalveil Creek and set up. We had a nice campfire and fun with our friends, camping is KID HEAVEN!!!
