Beach Day

We went down to Oceanside with a few friends, it was a beautiful day! A little cool for me to get in the water but that never seems to bother my children :>) I didn't take many pictures, but it was a fun group of people.

My favorite thing about this beach is its very close proximity to Dairy Queen, I can't go here and NOT end the day with a blizzard!

Beach camping

We were able to go camping at El Capitan state beach with some good friends. I love group camping trips, we always have a good time! The campsite was really nice, very large and had lots of shade. The kids could be found playing card games at all hours of the day.
we spent a lot of time at the beach! It was great in the mornings, but in the afternoons there was lots of tar. It was a pain to get off our skin but even worse to get off swimsuits, kind of a bummer :<(
the kids loved playing around the campground, on the rocks, and going on the nature trail.
they have great imaginations, and spent quite awhile trying to sell the adults merchandise from their "Stinky Sandwich Shop."
I am always amazed at how dirty my kids get!

going to the camp store for ice cream was fun.
and we enjoyed little hikes with our family!

 here are the dads...
 the moms...
and some of the 25 children we brought with us (all ranging from 6 months - 12 years)
on the way home we stopped in Camarillo to have lunch with my grandma. It is always nice to see her!
It was a good trip. Vacations are getting better and better the older the kids get, I feel like we are in the golden years now. In a few years camping will almost be easy I think! This was the first camping trip where bedtime actually went ok (in fact the kids were asking to go to bed because they were so wiped out!). The first night Whitney didn't sleep well at all, and woke up several times crying about who knows what. About 3 in the morning Sabrina got tired of it and started yelling, "I CAN'T SLEEP!!! I CAN'T SLEEP!!!" over and over at the top of her lungs. Apparently she didn't want anyone else to sleep either :>) For some reason Rich and I found this hilarious and laugh every time we think about it...oh, the joys of camping!

Baseball is Over!

Looking back, I guess I haven't posted ANYTHING about baseball this year. Rich coached for the 5th year, and it was WONDERFUL to have both boys on the same team!!! This year we were the Nationals, and I think they had a lot of fun. The season started in February with opening day.

I love how much Rich and the boys love to be out there with each other!

the boys did improve quite a bit over the course of the season.

and of course they always get super excited to wear all the catcher's gear!

Towards the end of the season Brendan kept bugging Rich that he wanted to try pitching. He doesn't usually have much of an arm, but Rich let him try for a couple of innings. He actually did a lot better than I expected, and while there were plenty of wild pitches there were several kids who were able to hit off him. It was fun to watch!
We had the end-of-season party at our house with pizza and a slip'n'slide. It was low key and fun :>) These were great kids!!!

Happy Father's Day!!!

A couple days before Father's Day we went to hang out at my mom's, and the kids decorated these LOVELY rice krispie treat ties :>)

Rich thought they were delicious!
He didn't have early meetings that day, so for once he was actually able to come home from work and take a little nap before church (an hour is not much, but it's more than he usually gets...he sacrifices a lot of sleep to fulfill his calling and spend time with our family and I love him for it!!!). My favorite gift we got for him is this lovely tie.

Rich is an AMAZING husband and father, he does so much for us and we are so lucky to have you babe!!!

Baby Party

the kids and I drove out to my work's main office for the annual baby party. It's kind of far, and there are never a ton of patients from my office that make the drive, but it is always fun to see the ones that do. I have been there for 9 years now, so it is fun to see some long-ago patients who have kids who are so OLD now! It makes me happy knowing I had a part in helping them have a family!
It is definitely getting easier to take the kids now. Every year Rich is home sleeping, and I try to chase my kids around while mingling with patients and it always stresses me out. This was the first time however that I didn't have to haul the stroller around, or change diapers, and it was great! They were excited to go in the bounce house and do face (hand?) painting and balloons. The In-n-Out truck was awesome too :>)

Strawberry Farm

We took a last minute trip out to the strawberry farm. I had just bought a 4 lb container the day before, so initially I said no, but my kids love strawberries and can mow through them like nobody's business so off we went!

we went with the McDowells and Hackers and it was a fun morning!
then we literally got to enjoy the fruits of our labors, it kills me to spend $20 on strawberries but they are delicious :>)

Last Day of School

I love summer. I don't love the heat that comes from living in a desert, but I do love lazy mornings and no schedules and spending time with my kids doing fun things. Brendan was excited to be done with school...
but Carson just had a sad face and said, "I like kindergarten." He did have some good little buddies in his class :>)
After school we went to our friends the Aragons for ice cream sundaes. What a great way to kick off summer with some good friends! Then that night we went to the park and pool with more friends for a little celebration. It was quite a day :>) I LOVE this picture of the big kids entertaining the little ones.
it was quite a show they put on lol :>)
and the water balloon fight is always fun! It amazes me how LONG it takes to fill up those balloons and how quickly they are destroyed!

SO grateful for all the wonderful friends I have!!! And thanks Kyra once again for organizing something fun!
