One on One

Over the summer I started teaching Brendan piano. We have had our shares of ups and downs...some lessons/practices go awesome (with cookie bribes if he didn't whine lol), but many days have left me wanting to pull my hair out :>) I told him if he made it through the first set of books I would take him to Farrell's, which was good motivation! It was nice to spend some time with just the two of us, you would think 2 people would have a hard time finishing that enormous sundae but we downed it pretty quickly :>)

he got a shark hat from the balloon guy, and thought he was hot stuff!

This was a week ago, and he has been on fire with the next set of books since then (even practicing when I didn't bug him to *gasp*). We will see how that goes! After seeing the shark hat Carson immediately decided that he wants to start piano now too :>)
I also got to go to B.J.s with just Carson a couple of days ago to use the certificate he got when he was Student of the Month. We don't generally take our kids to nice restaurants, and it was a fun experience. He experienced his first pazookie, and was in heaven. The whole rest of the day he kept telling Rich, "Today I had a...what do you call it again?" Ha ha! Life gets so busy, and Rich and I don't do one-on-one time with the kids as often as we would like. After this week I am motivated to do it more often, it was great to focus on just them for awhile!

Winter? What Winter?

I keep waiting for winter to kick in, but the last month has been nothing but sunshine. The last day of Christmas break we went to the beach with my friends Jaime and Niki. It was a gorgeous day!!!
The girls get super excited anytime Aubrey is around :>)

the three of us have a lot of boys!

it was a wonderful day finished off by some wonderful ice cream at Dairy Queen :>) I know we could really use some rain, and my kids have all kinds of new long sleeved shirts that still have the tags on them, but I have to admit I am loving this weather!

Family Pics (a little late)

Well, I thought I posted these a long time ago, but apparently I didn't! Over conference weekend we went up to my cousin Heather's house to watch the second session with them and take family pictures. She is AMAZING, and every time I am always so happy with how they came out! I can never pick a favorite, so here are a lot :>) Thanks cuz!

Whitney was being a total stinker when we first started, but all of a sudden the cheeseball came out and she was good to go!

Carson gets such a glare on his glasses, so I tried to have him take them off for the pictures. The poor kid's eye was crossing all over the place, so we put them back on :>)

Love how much these girls love each other :>)

Yesterday we took our annual trip to Knott's Berry Farm. We always go during the police and fire days when Rich can get 2 people in for free. We expected to pay for the girls this year since they are 3, but the girl at the ticket counter told Rich she thought they looked like they were 2 and waved us through. Awesome :>) The first thing we saw when we walked in was Snoopy. Whitney and Carson were not impressed!
What a difference for the girls this year vs. last year. They are tall enough to go on all the kiddie rides, and had a BLAST!!! They thought everything was so exciting.

Grandma Powell got to come with us too which was a lot of fun!

Of course the most exciting part is the funnel cake! This year we wised up and got one for the kids and one for the adults.
Smart move because these kids devour theirs like nobody's business!!!

My favorite part was that Brendan barely squeaked by the 54" line and got to ride ALL the big kid rides. We went on Silver Bullet twice, which was so fun. It took some convincing, but eventually Grandma and I got him on Supreme Scream. Wow I love that ride :>) He actually didn't scream on the way down (I sure did!) but when I looked over at him the look on his face was pretty priceless. He loved it! Carson is almost to 48", next year he will be able to go on a lot more of the rides. My kids actually did REALLY good overall in the park. Afterwards we met up with Bob at Chili's for dinner, and they did melt down a bit by that point. Can't expect a miracle I guess :>) It was a good day!

LOTS of Babies!!!

My friend Lisa from college and my friend Heather came over for a little visit Sunday afternoon while Lisa was in the area. She had identical triplets that are 10 months old (and is doing AMAZING with them!), and Heather had identical twins soon after. Between the 3 of us we have 11 kids (including 2 sets of twins and 1 set of triplets....holy moly). It was fun and crazy and makes my life look pretty easy :>)
