First Day of School

Hard to believe we have two kids at the "big kid school" now! They bumped the start time up....last year we started at 9, and this year it is 8 (with 7:50 start time for kindergarten). I wasn't sure how they would do with the early morning wake-up. I set my alarm for 6:30, and at that time I walked out of my room to find both boys dressed and ready to go :>) We will see how long that novelty lasts! We had their requested breakfast of BLUE chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream and chocolate syrup (yes, we sent them to school with a nice healthy breakfast ha ha!).

I figured Carson would do pretty good going to school, but he can be very temperamental so I was a little nervous how he would be when we dropped him off. He was super excited on the walk down there, but when they opened the gates I looked down at him and there were tears streaming down his face. Oh no :<( But it turns out that Rich accidentally bumped into him and "it hurt." He got over it in a minute and happily went off to class!
Then we walked Brendan in to find his class on the blacktop. His grade is huge (there are 7 classes), so he didn't know too many people in his class. He is happy to be with his friend DJ though!
They were both all smiles when they got home, and loved their first week. I really like both of their teachers, and hopefully it will be a great year!

Fun with Dad

When I was at work the other day, Rich made a "water slide" for the kids outside.

They were entertained for a long time, and had a great time! What a good dad :>)

Gray vacation '13

Last weekend we were able to get together with Rich's whole family. Friday we hung out at Frank and Amy's house. We swam, ate, and had a blast playing with cousins!

That evening, the girls went to the street fair

and watched Nacho Libre while eating nachos :>)
while some of the guys went to the Angel's game
Saturday morning we went to the beach

and then went back to Charlie and Judy's place. We swam at the pool and played games in the park.

we also made smores on the bbq which was a big hit!

Saturday night a good amount of people slept at our place, and then we all went to our ward at 8:30. Afterwards we came back to our place for testimonies, dinner, crafts, and more time together!

I love our family, it was so good to see everyone!!!

Good bye to the Nielsens!

Well I am super sad that MORE good friends are moving out of state :<( The Nielsens have only been here 2 years, but it feels like we have known them a lot longer than that. We had a last playgroup at the park, we will celebrate more when the come back to get the rest of their stuff in a couple weeks!
 Love these ladies :>)
Carson says that his 2 best friends are Cooper and Lyric. Now both of them live hundreds (or thousands) of miles away. Sorry bud :<(

Swing Set

Rich and I have been tossing the idea of getting a swing set around for awhile now. Costco had one up on display, but we were kind of on the fence about it. Then one day it was gone, and we decided then that we wanted it :>) They still had it online, but it was $300 more. We called around, and found one left at another Costco. Rich went to pick it up (all 6 boxes), and it just barely was too long to fit in our van. So he had to borrow our friend's truck and go back again. One of the boxes was opened, but they assured us everything was there. A couple days later Rich went to start assembling it, and the instruction manual was missing (all 130ish pages). He called Costco back to see if they had it. They didn't, but printed it up for him. Once we got that, he tried to go through all the boxes and make sure we had everything. About half the hardware was missing (so much for everything being in that first box ha ha!). The company shipped us new hardware, and FINALLY he was ready to put it together. Our good friends the Gargalis family knew we were getting ready to do this, and Greg called Rich up to say he was taking a day off work to come help him set it up. I couldn't believe he would do that, and Rich and I both felt bad about him doing it, but he insisted. We love this family so much, and were SO SAD when they moved a few months ago (after we barely moved to their neighborhood! It was nice being so close to them, but it didn't last long boo). Greg came over to help Rich with manual labor, and the kids and I headed over to their new place to swim and play.
We have missed these guys so much, it was great to see them!
When the guys finished, we went back to our house to eat dinner and enjoy the fruits of their labors.
 Love these handy guys!
My kids have been in heaven since we put this in. It has been just over a week, and they are out there constantly (well, as much as they can be in July weather!). Thank you Greg and Melissa for all your help, next time we get together there will be no work involved :>)
